District Announcements
We have been sharing information about a proposed funding cut to K-12 education and the Cherry Creek School District. We know there have been questions about school funding, how we might be impacted, and how you can take action.
The video above with Superintendent Chris Smith and Chief Financial and Operating Officer Scott Smith explains more about how these cuts to K-12 education funding would dramatically impact our students and community. Please take the time to watch the video and continue to make your voice heard. Please visit www.kidsmattertoo.org to send a letter or visit our CCSD Legislative Updates page to call CCSD lawmakers.
Mission & Vision
Academics
The curriculum at Mission Viejo Elementary emphasizes the whole child. Students are expected to show growth in their mastery of basic skills and in content associated with the Colorado State Model Content Standards. Information on these standards can be accessed on the Colorado Department of Education website: www.cde.state.co.us. National media and technology standards are also interwoven throughout the curriculum, in order to teach students how to access and utilize information. These content areas and skills lay a foundation for an excellent preparation for middle school and for eventual successful adults.
Attendance
The importance of regular school attendance cannot be overemphasized. Children should be in school when they are physically able. Although some assignments can be made-up, the interaction between student and teacher is irreplaceable.
Principal Message
André C.M.H. Pearson
Welcome to Mission Viejo Elementary!
I want to express my appreciation to each and every one of you for all the things you’ve done to make my last thirteen years so memorable. Though the primary role of schools is to ensure children learn, I too, have learned much by being part of this community. Among the things I’ve learned is how kind and hardworking every teacher, parent and student is. Seeing you all work hard inspires me to work hard as well. Please know that I am committed to the continuous improvement of our school. I want to ensure that our students have the best academic and social environment from the time they step into the building until the time they leave.
