Mission & Vision

Mission & Vision

Academics

The curriculum at Mission Viejo Elementary emphasizes the whole child. Students are expected to show growth in their mastery of basic skills and in content associated with the Colorado State Model Content Standards. Information on these standards can be accessed on the Colorado Department of Education website: www.cde.state.co.us. National media and technology standards are also interwoven throughout the curriculum, in order to teach students how to access and utilize information. These content areas and skills lay a foundation for an excellent preparation for middle school and for eventual successful adults.

Attendance

The importance of regular school attendance cannot be overemphasized. Children should be in school when they are physically able. Although some assignments can be made-up, the interaction between student and teacher is irreplaceable.

Welcome to Mission Viejo School

Dear Mission Viejo families, students, and community members,

It is my honor and privilege to serve as principal of Mission Viejo School, where our students engage in a diverse and caring community where rigorous learning connects them to identity, purpose, and achievement. This mission drives everything we do each day, from the moment our students walk through our doors until they head home, ready to share their discoveries with their families.

Having dedicated over 20 years of my life to education, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible potential that lies within every child. I firmly believe that every student can and deserves to grow, learn, and thrive in the school environment. It is this unwavering belief that guides our committed staff as we work together to create meaningful learning experiences that challenge, inspire, and support each individual student on their educational journey.

At Mission Viejo, we are proud Road Runners, and our path forward is guided by our core values that spell out ROAD:

Respect - We honor ourselves, others, and our learning environment through kind words and thoughtful actions.

Ownership - We take responsibility for our choices, our learning, and our contributions to our school community.

Advocate - We speak up for ourselves and others, ensuring every voice is heard and valued.

Driven - We pursue excellence with determination, embracing challenges as opportunities to grow.

These values aren't just words on our walls—they are the foundation of who we are as Road Runners. They guide our students as they navigate their academic pursuits, build lasting friendships, and develop into confident, capable individuals ready to make their mark on the world.

Together on the ROAD to success!
