Veterans Day 2013

Veterans Day Celebration

Friday, November 8, 2013
Mission Viejo Elementary
On Friday, 08 November 2013, Mission Viejo Elementary will host our 7th annual Veterans Day Celebration.  We would like to invite veterans from our school family and community to join us for this very special day.  Please feel free to invite neighbors, family, friends, teachers, etc.  Everyone is welcome!  The tentative agenda will be as follows:
9:15-10:15       Assembly with all students
10:30-11:30     Classroom visits (share stories, medals, pictures, Q&A *)
11:30-12:00     Presentation of gifts
12:00-1:00       Lunch & fellowship with fellow veterans
*Please do not bring any weapons, real or fake.
You may participate as little or as much as you would like.  You may stay just for the assembly or stay with us all day.  You may wear your uniform (which the kids LOVE) or just bring it with you to show.  This day is about you, our veterans.  No matter how long you decide to stay or how much you decide to participate, I promise that the tribute from our students will be a blessing.
It is imperative that I receive an RSVP from any of our veterans who will be joining us as I must plan accordingly for lunch, space, and a very special surprise.  Please RSVP no later than Tuesday, 05 Nov 2013 to:
Sandy Roberts or 720-670-6031 (call or text).
We would like to invite all of our families to join us for the assembly celebrating our brave men and women in uniform.  Even if you are not a veteran, I am confident that you will be moved by the amazing tribute that our students pay to our veterans.
We will also display our “Wall of Honor” featuring photographs of our veterans.  The “Wall” will be on display until 15 November.  I will put it up as soon as I start getting pictures.  Anyone is welcome to turn in pictures of your US veteran family members, friends, and neighbors to be displayed.  We hope to fill every space on the wall this year.  There is plenty of room so start sending them in now.  Please be sure the pictures are marked with student name and teacher.  It is very important so that I am able to return these special photos to you.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas.  I am looking forward to hearing from you soon, and getting more RSVPs than I can keep up with.
Sandy Roberts,
Veteran’s Day Event Coordinator
