Veterans Day 2012

Veteran's Day Celebration
November 08, 2012
Mission Viejo Elementary
On Thursday, 08 November, Mission Viejo Elementary will host our 6th annual Veteran's Day Celebration. We would like to invite veterans from our school family to join us for this very special day…. aunts, uncles, moms, dads, grandparents and neighbors.  The tentative agenda will be as follows:
0815-0930       Breakfast reception
0930-1050          Assembly with all students
1100-1200          Classroom visits (share stories, medals, pictures, Q&A *)
1200-1330          Guest speaker, presentation of gifts, lunch & fellowship
* Please do not bring any weapons, real or fake.
You may participate as little or as much as you would like. You may stay just for the assembly or stay with us all day. You may wear your uniform (which the kids LOVE) or just bring it with you to show. This day is about you, our veterans. No matter how long you decide to stay or how much you decide to participate, I promise that the tribute from our students will be a blessing.
It is imperative that I receive an RSVP from any of our veterans who will be joining us as I must plan accordingly for lunch, space and a very special surprise. Please RSVP no later than 03 November 2012 to Sandy Roberts at or  720-886-8002.
We would like to invite all of our families to join us for the assembly celebrating our brave men and women in uniform. Even if you are not a veteran I am confident that you will be moved by the amazing tribute that our students pay to our veterans.
We will also display our “Wall of Honor” featuring photographs of our veterans. The “Wall” will be on display until 16 November. I will put it up as soon as I start getting pictures. Anyone is welcome to turn in pictures of your US veteran; family members, friends and neighbors to be displayed. We hope to fill every space on the wall this year. There is plenty of room so start sending them in now. Please be sure the pictures are marked with student name and teacher. It is very important so that I am able to return these special photos to you.
In conjunction with our celebration this year we are going to do a donation drive for our troops. We have a few students at Mission that have a family member serving away from home. We would like to assemble some care packages for them as a special gift from their family at Mission Viejo. More information about this project will follow.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon and getting more RSVPs than I can keep up with.
